Men’s Retreat – October 18 – 19

On October 18th and 19th Faith Lutheran is sponsoring a Men’s Retreat which will be held at Stony Glen Camp in Madison. This overnight stay will give you the opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of other Christian men, partake of some good food AND be uplifted through the words and wisdom of Dr. Patrick Ferry. Dr. Ferry is the President of Concordia, Ann Arbor, Michigan and Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Details on the topic he will be addressing will be forth coming as will the specific start time on Friday, and end time on Saturday.

Last year at this retreat, there were about 50 men in attendance and they walked away encouraged and engaged. Registration will be going out to the Circuit and District beginning in May.

Fall Festival – October 26

The Fall Festival is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 26 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Please use the handicap ramp to enter the Fellowship Hall. There will be guessing games, a bake sale, popcorn, hot dogs, apple cider, and juice available. While it is geared for children up to age 12, teens are known to have fun and even help with the Festival. The Festival itself is FREE; however, there will be a small fee for the bake sale and hot dogs. All are welcome.

Trunk or Treat will start at 2:30 pm in the church parking lot. Those who wish to participate in the Trunk or Treat should bring candy to pass out from the trunk of their car. The children will “Trunk or Treat” to each car for candy or a treat. Everyone seems to enjoy the Trunk or Treat.

We encourage everyone to attend or be involved in this rain-or-shine event. Costumes are permitted by all, but we ask the volunteer staff to not wear scary costumes, and we prefer no witches. This was a successful outreach event at Good Shepherd for over 10 years, with attendance reaching over 75 children and families each year. We are confident this will be a wonderful outreach event at Faith.
Volunteering is very simple — you sit at the table with a game, explain to the children how to play the game, and then sit back and enjoy the fun. Look for the signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex starting in October. Donations of child-friendly candy, to be used for part of the prizes for the games, will be collected in October also.

Fill the Purse for Project Hope – October 26th

Let’s get together on Saturday, October 26th at 7:30 pm in our Fellowship Hall and bring our gently used purses. We will fill them with feminine items, hygiene items, food items, etc. for homeless ladies at Project Hope. Let’s show that we care and have not forgotten folks around us. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Just put down your name and how many items you will bring.

Our Shepherd School Gala Dinner & Auction – November 8

Please consider attending the Gala on Friday, November 8th from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. at LaMalfa Party Center on Heisley Road in Mentor. You will have fun while helping us raise much needed funds for our school.

We are collecting donations for our auctions. If you would consider donating a gift basket, item, or service either from your church, your family or your employer, we will place it in our auction. Gift cards/certificates, unique items and vacation destinations are always a hit. Please contact the school office (440-357-7776) with any questions. Donations can be dropped off at the school now through October 25th. If your donation includes a perishable item and must be delivered at a later date, please send us an email so we will know it is coming. supportosl@oslpainesville.org
